THE SENIOR PRODUCT ENGINEER JOB

Pushes for quality in themselves and the team. Applies advanced engineering and scientific principles to designs to reduce design risk and optimize designs. Develops models and applies data analysis and statistics to optimize designs. Effectively solves design challenges through analysis, simulation, and characterization. Is self-directed and effectively utilizes other team members. Instructs, oversees, mentors and trains other engineers.
ABOUT THE SENIOR PRODUCT ENGINEER
Functions as a central engineering expert within and across business units for problem recognition, review, and resolution. Works with multi-disciplinary engineering, designers and marketers’ teams to solves difficult technical issues with a methodical, data-driven approach. Conduct root cause analysis using problem solving methodologies using appropriate root case analysis tools. Conduct experiments and/or develop strategies for consideration that extend beyond known scientific and engineering precedents. Investigate and resolve system nonconformances, complaints and emerging high priority design issues. Identifies and initiates programs which result in innovative application of existing or new products or technologies. Understands internal & external customer needs and how to exceed their expectations. Maintains best in class, expert knowledge in current and novel technologies
Simplifies complex topics and communicates them effectively. Presents to cross functional team and management
Conducts risk analysis on projects and product designs. Leads engineering team through demonstrated technical excellence and implementation of engineering best practices. Create novel design solutions that expand the business’s intellectual property. Ensures that program objectives are determined and met, and logistics are effectively coordinated. Exhibits and instills decision-making based in objective engineering principles (analytical and empirical). Identifies, communicates, and mitigates risks. Ensures executional compliance to all applicable internal requirements and external regulations. Leads technical reviews and design reviews or acts as an independent reviewer. Develops team through mentorship, training, and adoption of development best practices
Builds and maintains positive and cooperative relationships internally and externally 10+ years of relevant product development or R&D experience (preferably with consumer goods). Bachelor of Science or advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Systems, Mechanical, Production Engineering. Advanced degree preferred. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate throughout the organization. Strong history of cross-functional collaboration with other engineering disciplines. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of root cause investigation. Experience working on joint technical forums/councils in the development of industry standards. Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to solves difficult technical issues with a methodical, data-driven approach.
